Take Action

The aim of Knowmore.org is to raise awareness of corporate abuse, and to serve as a catalyst for direct action against corporate power.

Ethical Consumerism is an important movement toward corporate reform, through which individuals recognize their own role in systems of oppression, and take personal steps toward resistance and  positive change.

However, the problem of unchecked corporate power is systemic and goes far beyond the scope of any single boycot or campaign.

I was using the api and found that it wasn't returning anything for a query on http://www.shell.com. Edited the Shell Template as it had a trailing slash after the url (http://www.shell.com/), and now it's working. Is this a bug in the api? (Left a similar comment on the Shell page discussion btw)

It's a bug in the sense that it's an annoyance. I just pushed a patch live to the base module. It seems to take care of it. I'll take a further look at it this weekend, but for now I gotta run. Ecooper 18:27, 3 October 2008 (PDT)

Out of curiosity, is there an SVN for the API? Could it possibly be usable in other MediaWiki based projects?

No public SVN exists for the API. It's a fairly static project so it really wasn't something I saw as being necessary. The code, of course, is GPL'd. So if you want a copy for whatever, you can email me.
Knowmore.org's Corporate Statistics API was written and designed to be wholly independent of MediaWiki, and we use a homebrew extension to bridge the two services. So, the code itself may not be too reusable, but the techniques certainly are. Of course, it's nothing spectacular either, a real basic techniques, basic practices sort of thing.
